WHO Collaborating Center of Trieste
The Collaborating Center of the World Health Organization (WHO CC) for Maternal and Child Health has been operating since 1992 at the IRCCS Burlo Garofolo collaborates with the WHO and other United Nations agencies, such as UNICEF, UNFPA and numerous other institutions Italian and foreign, such as universities, research centers, ministries, governmental and non-governmental organizations.
The main activities carried out by the WHO Collaborating Center are:
– technical support to WHO for the development of: guidelines, manuals and training packages, standards and indicators, tools for assessing the quality of care, policies and strategic documents – these products are widespread in the 192 member states of the WHO;
– research in the maternal and child field, in collaboration with the WHO or with other bodies, with particular attention to issues relating to the quality of maternal-neonatal care.

INSTITUTE OF HOSPITALITY AND SCIENTIFIC CARE (IRCCS) BURLO GAROFOLO
The Institute of Hospitalization and Scientific Care (IRCCS) Burlo Garofolo is a highly specialized hospital of national importance in the pediatric sector and in that of the protection of maternity and women’s health.
It pursues research purposes in the biomedical field and in that of the organization of health services, of innovation of assistance models and of knowledge transfer.
It provides highly qualified hospitalization and care services to minors, to women during pregnancy, childbirth and post-partum, and to women with gynecological pathologies, whether Italian or foreign.
The Institute is also a Provider of ECM training credits, the setting of teaching and research activities and university diagnostic services, the nature and functioning of which are governed by a specific agreement with the University of Trieste.
