Accredited training course “Respectful Maternity Care"

The training course was held at the IRCCS Burlo Garofolo in Trieste in September 2016 and involved various professional figures including gynecologists, neonatologists, nurses, midwives and university students of obstetrics.

The course focused on introducing the charter of the rights of White Ribbon Alliance (WRA) respectful maternal care and on the introduction of WHO Standard for Improving the Quality of Maternal Neonatal Care, delving into the origin and underlying causes of maltreatment and abuse that women can suffer in childbirth.

The course, of which three different editions were held, was conducted by a team of experts in the quality of maternal and neonatal care.

Translate research into policy initiatives in the WHO European Region

The WHO Collaborating Center for Maternal and Child Health of the IRCCS Burlo Garofolo of Trieste, in collaboration with the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS) – National Center for Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, with the National Committee Italian for UNICEF – Onlus Foundation, and the University of Central Lancashire in the United Kingdom, organized the webinar “Quality of Maternal and Newborn Health Care. Translating research into policy initiatives in the WHO European Region” which took place online on the Starleaf® platform on 27 October 2021, from 2 to 5 pm (Italian time).

The aim of the event was to share key concepts to implement effective actions aimed at improving the quality of the care provided and to translate research into maternal and child health policies by promoting, in particular, the health of mothers and girls. in the first 1000 days of life.

During the event, various case studies were presented, implemented at different levels (e.g., maternity hospitals, communities, regional, national, or European bodies) and related to different settings (e.g., in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in Croatia, Italy, Portugal and the United Kingdom).
